Chief Executive Officer
Vuyisile has broad industry experience, cross-functional training, and strong strategic and financial skills focused on creating value. He has a unique and deep experience that combines strategy formulation, transaction structuring, financial engineering and operational management. He has a track record for managing and motivating teams to deliver high impact results.
Vuyisile has worked for Salomon Brothers in corporate finance; was with Bain & Company on strategy consulting; was deputy CEO of the Kelly Group; and was an investment analyst at Africa Opportunity Fund.
Semadi has over 20 years of experience in Financial markets.
He is currently a partner at Theko Capital Partners which focuses on advisory in project finance in the mining, healthcare & property sectors.
He has had exposure in various leading roles in Investment Banking and has extensive experience in stockbroking & investments.
He served as a director for Bank of America in the global markets division covering both local and international institutional clients across multiple asset classes.
Semadi was also a Founding shareholder and director of Noah Financial Innovation with the principal role of heading up the equity and equity derivative trading desk.
He has served on several professional bodies including the JSE Trading Advisory Committee as well as a member of the ABSIP Exco.

Erica has over 30 years of experience in the South African financial markets. She began her career at Ferguson Brothers in 1985. After consulting to the JSE, she accepted a permanent position in 1987, where she was part of, and played an instrumental role in the development, testing, training and implementation of the Broker Dealer Accounting (BDA) system - the JSE's electronic trading system - when converting from open outcry trading to electronic trading platform as well as the conversion from paper settlement to electronic settlement with the implementation of STRATE (South Africa's Central Securities Depository).
In 1994 Erica joined HSBC as the training and liaison manager and subsequently joined the Cadiz Group in 1998 to be part of, and launch its stockbroking business as a director, stockbroker in control and head of compliance & settlement.
Erica continues to sit on various industry advisory committees and forums, the likes of JSE Trading & Advisory, JSE Clearing and Settlements and T+3 to name a few.
She has played the role of the president of the South African Institute of Stockbrokers (SAIS) since 2005. Erica has been instrumental and has spearheaded the development of a learnership and two qualifications within the financial industry in this capacity as a member of the SAIS. She continues to play a major role in setting standards of excellence through mentoring, training and development of education within the industry with the focus of driving transformation through skills development.
Erica is one of the founding members of Navigare where she is the managing director and stockbroker in control.
Ruanne Foster, CFA
Head of Research
Ruanne has more than nine years' experience in asset management and research. He has extensive quantitative analysis and model building skills with a special interest in programming.
Ruanne has been driving the research function at Navigare since 2011.
Ruanne completed his B.Com Investment Management at the University of Pretoria during 2007 and is a CFA© charter holder.
Head of Trading
James has 30 years of trading experience in the South African equities market. He entered the industry in 1987 as a trader on the Open Outcry Trading Floor, and moved to Ed Hern Rudolph in 1993 as a Senior Trader, primarily trading resource stocks, foreign arbitrage, and managing propriety trading activities. In 1996 he was made Head of Trading and appointed a Director.
He joined Citigroup in 2002 as a Director and Head of South African Trading. James spent six successful years at Citigroup before accepting the opportunity to join Navigare as one of the founders.
Equity Sales and Trading
Gavin has 26 years trading and sales experience in the South African equities market, and started his career at EW Balderson. He later joined ING Barings where he was initially a trader, but was promoted to Head of Sales in trading in 1999. In 2001, he joined Citigroup where he was part of the original team that started the group's South African equities division, namely Salomon Smith Barney, and was a Director responsible for sales trading to both local and offshore accounts. Within three years of launching the business, the company was ranked the number one research house in South Africa.
Gavin is one of the founding members of Navigare.
Equity and Derivatives trader

Frank has been in markets since 1987 and has extensive experience in equities and derivative trading, linear
and non-linear. He joined the Navigare team in 2010 from Absa Capital, where he was stockbroker in control
of equity derivatives.
Lazola joined Navigare as a Quantitative Analyst to focus on innovative research and bespoke models. He has a BSc Mathematics & Statistics(UCT) and B.Com Honours Quantitative Finance(UJ). Being at Navigare has provided him with an opportunity to build a career in the model development. Lazola is also a CFA 3 candidate.
Henrish joined Navigare in June 2018 as a software developer to focus on the continued development of the Navigare Research product. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (Earlham College, Indiana) and worked at various local and international companies as a full-stack developer.
Henrish brings a crucial skill to the Research team by harnessing the potential of data.
Previously an Equities Trader at Genesis, Khanyisile joined Navigare to assist in growing the Equity Sales & Corporate access team. Khanyisile has a B.COM Financial Management(UNISA), has passed her JSE Equities Traders Exam and has passed, The Advanced Diploma in Financial Markets at the University of Johannesburg and is currently completing her B.COM Honours in Financial Management (UNISA).
Senior - Compliance
Head Settlements & Administration
Jennifer began her career in 1997 at HSBC Securities and joined Cadiz Securities in 2004 as an alternate settlement officer. She has almost 20 years' experience in the Stock Broking environment. She has completed all the Registered Persons Exams as well as Derivatives and Equities Compliance Officers' and Settlement Officers' exam. Jennifer is currently writing her Stockbroking Board exams with the intentions of becoming a qualified and practicing stockbroker and member of the South African Institute of Stockbrokers.
Senior Settlement Administration
Dominique has a total of 27 years' experience in the financial and stock broking industry. She started her career in 1990 at Nedbank Central Share Department and moved to Cadiz in settlements and administration. When the JSE moved from a paper to an electronic environment, Dominique's career focus was more on the client wealth management side of stockbroking, as a portfolio assistant administrator and part of a team that advised, serviced and managed local and offshore investment portfolios for high net worth clients. Dominque worked as a BDA test analyst at the JSE, forming part of the team testing the migration from a T+5 to a T+3 before joining Navigare as a senior settlement administrator.
Administration - Settlements and Compliance
Bernard is an aspiring Stockbroker and he has completed his programme in investment analysis and portfolio management (UNISA), JSE Equity and Derivatives Compliance Officer certificates, and SAIFM registered person's exams. He is also furthering his B com in law through UNISA. Being at Navigare, where he began his career, has provided him with an opportunity to build a career in the financial sector.
Head of Securities Lending and Borrowing
Tania was instrumental in the development and commencement of securities lending and borrowing within the financial markets and was part of one of the first securities lending businesses in South Africa in 1996. She has been part of many evolutions in a growing and developing market that has been impacted by modernisation and regulatory and legislative changes. With over 21 years of experience in the financial services sector, Tania is an expert in securities lending and borrowing, possessing deep expert knowledge of the industry at large.
Tania is currently an executive member of the South African Securities Lending Association and represents the industry in other forums.
She joined Navigare in 2015 to start up a new lending desk.
Securities Lending and Borrowing
Alisha was previously employed by Nedbank Investor Services . She has graduated in a Bachelor of Business Science double majored in Economics and Business Management at Monash University and has also obtained a certificate in financial management and leadership at Milpark Business School. Alisha is keen on furthering her career within the investment industry.
She joined Navigare in 2018 and is an integral employee within the securities lending team.
Currently assisted by Navigare, Njabulo is undergoing a Rapid Effective Accelerated Life Long Learning Training with the intention of entering the Financial Markets Practitioner Learnership.
